First destination – La Clusaz

15 01 2011

Here I am in La Clusaz France and what a day it was trying to get here. Woke up at five in the morning in Mayrhofen to get all our gear ready for our trip. Then looked outside the window to see that it was pouring down rain. If it was only a little colder it would be snowing. I did find out though that it snowed above 2000m so we got about 30cm!

It feels great to be on the road again. We’ve rented a little four-door Skoda Fabia car from Innsbruck and was quite surprised that we were able to fit three people, plus all our gear. The car was like a tin of sardines.

So here I am in La Clusaz, France with Chris and Maria and a whole bunch of girls on the FWT. The conditions are interesting…Powder, crust and blue ice!! Eeek. The top 5 women from 2010 are pre qualified for the entire FWT stops so we go straight into the finals.  I watched the women’s qualifiers today and 7 women made it through.

There are two entry points. DI and D2. A one-entry point includes a 50m repeal down!!!

Keep you posted on the results.
