THE NORTH FACE & THE WORLD HELI CHALLENGE

1 08 2010

It has been a while since my last post and I’ve got so much to tell but most importantly I’ve got some very exciting news to announce. As of now I’m being signed on with The North Face!  They specialize in all outerwear and equipment such as backpacks, tents and sleeping bags.  www.the northface.com. The North Face is recognized as the most reliable and trusted brand by extreme sports athletes all over the world and I am excited to be accepted as a team athlete.

I wanted to say a big thank you to Helly Hansen and Marshall Rutman. Thank you for the support over the past 4 years.

The World Heli Challenge has started with the first heli day scheduled for Tuesday the 3rd of August.  The World Heli Challenge is a helicopter accessed freeride competition. In the end it will show which athlete is the best ‘all round’ rider by combining their Freeride and Freestyle skills.

There are two comp days for the World Heli Challenge, which consist of 2 Helicopter accessed competitions. First is the ‘Big Mountain day’ and the second day is the ‘Freestyle day’. We have a 7-day weather window to make sure we have perfect weather to airlift everyone into the mountains for the 2-day comp.

There is some big names competing this year from all over the world including Travis Rice (so sick!), Maria Kuzma , Aline Bock, Julia Mancuso , Sam Smoothy, Ted Davenport and Ane Enderud. This year is going to be an awesome event!

Last year for the resurrection of the World Heli Challenge it was a mind-blowing event held in Mt Aspiring National Park with Wanaka’s backcountry helicopters. It’s been pouring rain all day so fingers crossed it will be a safe and an amazing powder day for our first comp day.

I’ll be updating regularly so keep posted. In the mean time let it snow…
