NZ winter… what a beauty!

2 07 2010

Hi everyone I’m back and the season down south has kicked off and it’s been great. I’ve been up to Cardrona and Treble Cone and the snow has been grad for the opening week. I also have a new Toyota to drive around town. It definitely beats my Toyota Tercel I had this year in Canada.

Last weekend we had the New Zealand Snow Sports Awards and I was up for a freeski nomination against a tough field including park and pipe champions Jossi and Byrons Wells, Big Mountain star Sam Smoothy and 1st time Olympic competitor for ski-X Mitchy Greig.

With no doubt Jossi Wells took it out with a sterling northern season, his AFP Superpipe title, a silver in the Winter X Games superpipe, the Dew Tour ski superpipe championship, a gold at the Austrian Open and a bronze in slopestyle at the European X Games culminating in his being named world freeski champion.

Once again the New Zealand freeski team remains unchanged this winter after strong performances on the international circuit.  The freeski team for 2010 is Mitchy Greig, Sam Smoothy, Lydon Sheehan, Jossi and Byron Wells and Myself.

Just recently I picked up a new sponsor Ice Breaker. Icebreaker uses superfine merino wool from the mountains of New Zealand. It’s 100% natural – finer, softer, more insulating and more breathable. I’ve also got some exciting news coming up. Will keep you posted on that one. In the meantime check out the ‘exposure’ tab. I’ll be posting some recent articles i’ve had in some ski mags.
